Meet Lisa
Lisa Gong Guerrero is a Board-Certified Criminal Trial Attorney with over 18 years of courtroom experience. Board certification by The Florida Bar is the highest level of recognition for expertise in a legal specialty, and as of 2023, only 5% of eligible Florida Bar members have earned this distinction in one or more of the 27 specialty areas. Lisa is proud to be among this select group, recognized for her professionalism, ethics, and expertise in criminal trial law.
Before founding Gong Guerrero Law, PLLC, Lisa served for 18 years as an Assistant State Attorney (ASA) in Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit. During her tenure, she handled thousands of cases—from initial filing through trial—building a deep and practical understanding of the criminal justice system at every stage. Lisa successfully prosecuted a wide range of cases, including traffic offenses, misdemeanors, and serious felonies such as homicide and sex crimes. Having tried over 145 criminal jury trials, she is known for her courtroom skill, strategic thinking, and professionalism.
Lisa made history in the Ninth Judicial Circuit as the first Asian American to serve as Homicide ASA, County Court Bureau Chief, and Deputy Chief ASA. In these leadership roles, she supervised and trained prosecutors and played a key role in shaping internal procedures at the State Attorney’s Office. She was instrumental in developing diversion programs and implementing office-wide processes that improved both efficiency and fairness. Her experience allows her to advise clients across the full spectrum of criminal defense matters, including trial representation, pre-trial diversion, violation of probation, sealing and expungement, and strategic guidance even before formal charges are filed.
Beyond the courtroom, Lisa is a respected leader in both the legal and civic communities. She currently serves as President-Elect of the Orange County Bar Association, is a Board Member of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, and is a Past President of the Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association. She was also selected as a Class II Fellow of The Florida Bar’s William Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy.
Lisa’s legal expertise, professionalism, and community contributions have earned her numerous honors. In 2021, she received the Lawrence G. Mathews, Jr. Young Lawyer Professionalism Award from the Orange County Bar Association. In 2024, she was recognized with a Career Service Award from the Ninth Circuit State Attorney’s Office for 18 years of distinguished public service, and she was honored with the Rising Star Award at the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Luncheon for her impactful leadership in Central Florida.
Lisa is proud to leverage her knowledge and experience in the criminal justice system to protect your rights, your freedom, and your future.
